Jennifer Bees, Class of 2008

Today’s recipient began courting prospective students shortly after she matriculated as a student herself. She worked as an admission tour guide, soon rose to lead all tour guides, and as a JA insisted that a disproportionate number of “pre-frosh” spend campus overnights in her entry. In a mere five years since graduation, she’s already given a lifetime’s worth of volunteering to her alma mater—as reunion chair, class president, class agent, and as a member of the alumni executive committee. She also helped lead Williams Expedition ’09, promoting Williams among alumni and prospective students across the country. But it’s through her above-and-beyond-the-call-of duty work as a Williams admission officer that she has earned her Copeland stripes. She’s been at the center of cutting-edge communications strategies, and she single handedly managed a pilot program that partnered alumni of color with prospective students of color and was critical to yielding the powerfully talented and diverse Class of 2017. Those who know her well says that her joie de vivre is contagious and her enthusiasm for Williams inspires future Ephs. For all that she does to bring outstanding students to Williams, we proudly honor the outstanding performance, loyalty, and service of this year’s Copeland Award winner: Jennifer Bees ’08.
